Location: Austin, TX (float across surrounding area) | Schedule: Full-time, contract, on-site, M-F 8am to 5 pm (may require other daytime hours) | Compensation: Not specified Overview A healthcare services provider is seeking a Phlebotomist to support laboratory operations across multiple sites in the Austin, TX area. This is a contract position with the potential to convert to a permanent role, ideal for a detail-oriented professional comfortable with a mobile, multi-location assignment. What you'll do Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) clearly and courteously to patients Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles Fully understand and follow physicians' orders Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper temperature control and container/tube selection Follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend annual department trainings Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries Assist with troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations Float between multiple locations in the Austin, TX area Required qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting Minimum 1 year of experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite High School Diploma or GED Clean driving record Reliable transportation Availability M-F 8am to 5 pm, with potential need for other daytime hours Compensation and benefits Benefits are available Mileage expenses paid Why this role This contract position offers the potential to convert to permanent employment, along with mileage reimbursement and available benefits for a phlebotomist willing to float across Austin-area locations. #J-18808-Ljbffr Software Placement Group, SPG
