Medical Receptionist-Hamilton Clinic

Overview Community Memorial Hospital is looking for a full-time Receptionist to join us in our Hamilton, NY Clinic! Hours: 9am-5:30pm Responsibilities Oversees waiting area, coordinates patient movement, reports problems or irregularities. Greets patients in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner; provides any necessary instructions/directions. Informs the appropriate department or person of a patient’s arrival. Performs outpatient registration duties and completes outpatient registrations efficiently and courteously by accurately capturing and entering information. Performs scheduling activities: schedules follow-up appointments; records additions or cancellations to the provider appointment system; enters add-ons, no-shows, and cancellations to reflect patient appointment status. Prepares medical records for provider staff use. Reconciles charge capture sheet and patient visits schedule to ensure a charge capture sheet has been processed for each visit. Answers telephones, takes accurate messages, and relays messages to the nurse or provider. Provides coverage to other clinics as needed. Attends meetings as required. Assembles patient charts for next-day visits and updates patient profiles. Schedules physician referrals, outpatient appointments, and admissions as requested. Participates in the daily huddle where the day’s schedule is reviewed and follow-up tasks are assigned; no-shows and same-day cancellations from the previous business day are discussed and follow-ups are assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Able to maintain confidential information. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, angry people within the facility.
