Wire Harness Assembler

This role focuses on assembling and crimping wire harnesses using hand tools and semi-automatic equipment in a small, collaborative production environment. You will interpret work orders and blueprints, perform inspections and tests, and help ensure that all wire harness assemblies meet quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and crimp wires using hand tools and semi-automatic equipment such as crimp presses and wire strippers.
• Read and follow wire harness assembly instructions, work orders, and blueprints to ensure accurate and consistent assembly.
• Conduct functional and continuity tests on wire harnesses and cable assemblies to verify proper performance.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process assemblies and finished products to confirm compliance with specifications.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following prescribed safety regulations and housekeeping practices.
• Report defective materials, equipment issues, or questionable conditions to the appropriate supervisor or team lead.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying opportunities to enhance quality, efficiency, and safety.
• Practice safety awareness at all times and follow established procedures when using tools, equipment, and materials.
• Handle small parts and components with care to avoid damage and ensure accurate assembly.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly to support smooth production flow and on-time delivery.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience in wire harness assembly or a similar electronic assembly role.
• Production wire crimping experience using hand tools and semi-automatic crimping equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with small mechanical and electrical components.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and other technical documents accurately.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and semi-automatic equipment for crimping and stripping wires.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly and high-quality output.
• Basic math skills to support measurement, counting, and verification tasks.
• Ability to distinguish colored wires to ensure correct routing and assembly.
• Ability to stand while working for extended periods and handle small parts safely and efficiently.
• Good communication skills and a positive, cooperative attitude in a production team environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in electronic assembly or production environments.
• Experience conducting functional and continuity tests on wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
• Familiarity with visual and dimensional inspection techniques for in-process and finished assemblies.
• Experience working within continuous improvement or lean manufacturing environments.
• Comfort working with semi-automatic production equipment such as crimp presses and wire strippers.

Work Environment

You will work in a small team environment alongside approximately 14 colleagues in the production area, fostering collaboration and clear communication. The role involves using hand tools and semi-automatic equipment such as crimp presses and wire strippers to assemble and crimp wires. Standard hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing a consistent daytime schedule. The dress code is casual, allowing comfortable attire appropriate for a hands-on production setting. The workspace emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety regulations while handling small parts and performing inspections and tests.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spring Lake Park, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
