About the Team Anduril is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Omen Team at our Costa Mesa HQ. Omen is Anduril’s hover-to-cruise autonomous air vehicle (AAV) that packs endurance, payload, and mission flexibility of larger airplanes into a Group 3 platform. Omen can operate from ship decks, beaches, or remote island clearings, providing runway independence and maneuver freedom across defense and civilian domains. Omen is the first tail-sitter aircraft with a mass-production contract, with an order of 50 systems that anchors production and accelerates development of future systems. About the Job You will work closely with Omen program leadership and cross-departments to solve hard problems and advance autonomous flight systems. You will be responsible for designing and supporting the integration of subsystems across Omen, supporting testing efforts, and ensuring system performance meets specifications and standards. What You’ll Do Own and drive the mechanical design of a new air vehicle, from concept to low-rate production. Lead technical efforts to define requirements, propose solutions, and establish verification methodologies for mechanical systems. Collaborate with electrical and software disciplines to ensure a reliable, flexible, and cost-effective system. Lead design reviews, perform analyses, visit vendors, prototype, and implement hardware test plans. Contribute to the enhancement of team tools, templates, processes, and standards. Foster a positive, high-energy, collaborative team environment. Balance operational needs across subsystems while optimizing for development speed, mass, manufacturability, and cost. Support hardware demonstrations with customers as needed. Travel to test sites and vendors as required. Required Qualifications 8+ years in a technical engineering role in a professional setting. Strong knowledge of core engineering principles, mechanics of composite materials, design, analysis, testing, and fabrication. Understanding of load paths, design practices, and hand calculations for robust assemblies. Proficiency in CAD software (NX preferred) with emphasis on complex fixturing and tooling design. Hands-on experience supporting assembly fixturing and tooling life cycle development (design, procurement, build, implementation). Experience with high-performance airframe manufacturing and assembly processes, including composite and metallic part machining, fixturing, fastening, joining, fuel sealing, and integration from parts to airframe. BS or MS in mechanical engineering, or equivalent work experience. Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills. Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance. Preferred Qualifications Experience in NX/Teamcenter. Experience with clean-sheet aircraft configuration. Broad experience in tooling and manufacturing of composite and metallic airframes. Experience with metrology verification methods and equipment for aircraft assembly fixturing and part fabrication. Passion for aviation, aerospace, or unmanned systems through hands-on projects or hobbies. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Experience with structural development testing. Experience with Formula SAE, Baja SAE, Design Build Fly, or similar programs. Salary & Benefits US Salary Range: $146,000 - $194,000 USD.
