Supplier Quality Engineer

Responsibilities Ensure safety is the foundation of daily work through vigilance and accountability Maintain approved supplier list and supporting evaluations Maintain supplier risk evaluations Review and approve suppliers through both mail-in audits and on-site audits Perform data analysis to identify systemic issues and develop quality improvement plans with the supplier using proactive quality tools (PFMEA, MSA, Control plans, etc.) Report on supplier quality performance at the Quality Management Board Perform preliminary review of supplier requests for deviated material Lead purchasing corrective action meetings; accept or reject supplier corrective action requests Verify that supplier containment is taken immediately upon discovery of a quality concern Act as liaison between Sargent functional teams and supplier for rejection disputes Assist supplier development team as needed to drive improvement and work transfers Support Advanced Quality Planning and PPAP review for new product introduction Maintain Supplier Quality Clauses and Supplier Quality Assurance Manual Ability to travel to suppliers on an as-needed basis (30%) Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s science degree in a technical field Minimum 5 years of quality system auditing experience with 3 years of demonstrated experience performing external quality system audits Must be ASQ CQA or able to achieve certification within 1 year of employment Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts to enable review of processes Demonstrated ability to use causal analysis tools to analyze and resolve issues ranging from basic to complex Proficient skill level with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Strong communication and collaborative skills with other individuals, departments, and companies Must be able to travel Must be a U.S. Citizen Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of electrical or mechanical engineering disciplines Experience with source inspection at suppliers Experience performing First Article Inspection reviews to AS9102 requirements GD&T experience Six-Sigma Green Belt Attended and passed ISO 9001 or AS9100 Lead Auditor training Experience providing ISO 9001 or AS9100 auditor training Working Conditions Ability to sit at a desk and work with a computer as necessary, sometimes for extended periods Ability to safely move about in a variety of work environments, from office to manufacturing floor, and other settings Ability to remain on a manufacturing shop floor, sometimes for extended periods, while meeting specified safety requirements (e.g., vision protection, foot/toe protection, and others as appropriate) Benefits Competitive Compensation Bonus platforms Holidays, Vacation, and Sick Time 401(k) Savings & Investment Plan Tuition Reimbursement Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans Health Savings Account (HSA) / Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Life & Disability Insurance Accident/Hospital/Critical Care Plans Pet Insurance Gym & Rideshare Incentives Legal Insurance / Identity Theft Protection Half day Fridays Candidate Qualities Integrity – We do the right thing the right way.
