Summary About the Position: Serves as chief of the Security Police Branch, Law Enforcement, and Security Division performing day-to-day public safety and security operations. Responsibilities Plan and direct law enforcement operations to ensure mission readiness and regulatory compliance. Coordinate emergency response, investigations, and critical incident law enforcement activities. Establish comprehensive training programs to maintain mission readiness and regulatory compliance. Supervise multi-shift workforce managing performance, staffing, training, and resources. Formulate long-range plans, budgets, and policies for law enforcement. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Direct law enforcement and physical security shift operations to ensure the protection of life, property, and civil rights within an installation or facility; (2) Evaluate the performance and training needs of subordinate police officers to resolve operational challenges and recommend appropriate administrative or personnel actions; and (3) Coordinate initial emergency responses for major crime scenes or critical incidents to secure the area, preserve evidence, and integrate efforts with other on-scene first responders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next or second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09 or GS-10). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Conditions of Employment This position requires successful completion of the Military Police Investigators course through United States Army Military Police School and National Incident Management System course. This position requires you to work both inside and outside with possibility exposure to inclement weather. Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. This position requires you to successfully be graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy unless you have a current approved waiver/exemptions or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General IAW AR 190-56.
