The Opportunity The Senior Communications Officer plays a key role in shaping and delivering strategic communications that elevate the university's brand, reputation, and engagement with internal and external audiences. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact storytelling, media relations, and digital engagement initiatives while collaborating across departments to support institutional priorities. Key Job Functions Develop, write, and execute strategic communications across multiple channels, including press releases, newsletters, emails, and social media platforms. Support and implement integrated communication strategies to effectively engage target audiences. Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and key stakeholders to enhance media coverage and public visibility. Draft and distribute media materials, including press releases, advisories, and announcements. Monitor media coverage and respond to media inquiries as appropriate. Manage and analyze social media activity, providing insights and recommendations to improve performance and engagement. Create and distribute internal communications to keep employees informed of organizational updates, initiatives, and events. Assist in planning and coordinating events, meetings, and presentations. Ensure consistency in branding, messaging, and organizational voice across all communication platforms. Conduct research and analyze communication campaign effectiveness, providing data-driven recommendations. Qualifications Required Education and Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field. Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in writing, editing, and content creation across multiple platforms. Skills and Competencies Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with social media platforms and content management systems. Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach. Knowledge of current communication trends, tools, and best practices.
