About the Area

Shreveport-Bossier City is situated on the Red River in northwest Louisiana. Commonly known as the 'Ark-La-Tex', the point where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. The Shreveport-Bossier City area is home to Barksdale Air Force Base, as well as numerous colleges and universities, theaters, lakes, golf courses, beautiful housing areas, churches, and great schools. With a population of nearly 400,000 in the city's metropolitan region, the area promises much to do while maintaining a reasonable cost of living and an excellent, temperate climate. You'll enjoy a unique combination of two great American heritages: a little Cajun, and since we're less than 15 minutes from the Texas border, a little Lone Star too. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Major Duties/Responsibilities

Supervise, mentor, and teach graduates including GI fellows and residents.
Responsible for management of diagnostic, preventative, and/or therapeutic gastroenterological and endoscopic services.
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy, including: bleeding control, polypectomy, EMR, PEGS and dilation.
Work closely with all health professionals throughout the medical center and provide consultation to other services.
Possess basic endoscopic skills and have a background and interest in clinical/research participation.
The position includes a faculty appointment at the affiliated Louisiana State University Health and Science Center.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
