This includes ownership of the strategy, selection, risk, and performance management of CDMOs providing small molecule sterile drug product, biologics drug substance and drug product, and antibody drug conjugates to Gilead.We are seeking a high energy, “go- getter” who will use their business savvy and technical experience to help drive high performance from our partners. You will have responsibility for indirectly leading and influencing others, bidding, selecting and managing multiple CMOs.This position will be based at the Gilead site in Foster City, CA and is eligible for the Gilead GFlex program allowing remote work up to 2 days per weekEssential Functions:Serve as the point of contact for strategic business discussions, long range supply and capacity planning, and business developmentManagement of supplier performance (monthly/annually)Serve as an escalation point for manufacturing operations team members for performance or contract issues with suppliersLead annual business review meetings (BRMs)Lead the assessment and mitigation of supplier risks through regular supplier risk management processesResponsible for preparation, reviewing, challenging, and tracking of RFPs/RFQs/RFIs for new business with external suppliers and in consultation with functional stakeholders (Manufacturing Operations, Technical Development. Quality Assurance, Analytical Operations etc.)Lead and/or support site assessment teams (SATs) in the assessment and selection of suppliersNegotiate Confidentiality Agreements, Master Services Agreements and Work OrdersSupport make vs. buy analysisCoordinate/lead meetings internally and with CMO’s and publish meeting minutes.Provide leadership and training to other department personnelDevelop budgets and accurately report accruals to Finance if/as neededParticipates in solving issues of high complexity.Communicates issues to line manager and project teams in a timely mannerSupport product team (PDM subteam and/or CMC) needs for the selection of external service and/or material suppliers to provide required services and/or supplies from development through commercializationStay informed and knowledgeable of relevant development and commercial CDMO supplier capabilities, offerings, capacities, etc. as they relate to potential or known Gilead pipeline needs.Collaborate and establish regular meetings with key stakeholders and partners to ensure outsourced needs are metOrganize and participate in teleconferences and face-to-face meetings with global CMOs; work closely with Gilead teams to establish agenda and keep track of key decisionsBasic Qualifications:10+ Years with BS/BAOR8+ Years with MS/MA or MBAPreferred Qualifications10+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech organization or relevant manufacturing environment and at least 5 years in a strategic sourcing (or equivalent) functionPrior experience leading outsourced development and manufacturing service providers and/or direct material suppliersUnderstanding of activities related to the CMC development of biopharmaceuticalsKnowledge of GMPs and associated regulations (21CFR parts 11, 210, 211, 820)Ability to lead cross functional teamsStrong people management skillsExperience negotiating supply agreementsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to manage multiple programs/projects; sound organizational and time management skillsAbility to develop concise presentations to convey issues to senior managementAbility to work under uncertainty and to resolve conflict in a constructive mannerAbility to solve complex problems through ingenuity and collaboration with subject matter experts and other key stakeholdersAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentProject management experience and/or certification are a plusThis position may require up to 20% domestic and/or international travelPeople Leader Accountabilities•Create Inclusion - knowing the business value of diverse teams, modeling inclusion, and embedding the value of diversity in the way they manage their teams. •Develop Talent - understand the skills, experience, aspirations and potential of their employees and coach them on current performance and future potential. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
