The Pallet Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and documenting the condition of damaged pallets within the facility. This role is crucial in reducing costs associated with third-party pallet disposal and replacement, and optimizing the utilization of on-site resources.

A Day in the Life as a Pallet Repair Technician

1. Inspect wooden pallets for damage, including broken or cracked stringers, broken or missing deck boards, and loose or protruding nails
2. Segregate pallets based on damage (repairable vs. non-repairable)
3. Perform pallet repairs according to the SOP, including replacing broken stringers and deck boards, and repairing loose nails
4. Operate tools and equipment safely and effectively, including compressors, air hoses, nail guns, and hand tools
5. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including designated areas for pallet inspection, repair, and staging
6. Document the number of pallets repaired daily, including details such as date, employee name, and the number of 48" and 96" pallets repaired
7. Accurately record materials used in the repair process (replacement boards, nails, etc.)
8. Submit completed Pallet Repair Logs to the supervisor at the end of each shift
9. Properly handle and stage non-repairable pallets for disposal by local 3rd party vendor, and maintain accurate records of these pallets
10. Adhere to all safety precautions, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and dust masks
11. Performs all job tasks assigned by the leadership staff to achieve and maintain daily productivity and quality goals
12. Participate in training programs related to pallet repair procedures, tool and equipment usage, safety, and documentation
13. Operates all material handling equipment safely: stand-up type forklift (PE, PC, RC)

What you'll bring to the table:

• Basic English Language proficiency
• Possess a complete understanding of training and communication resources relevant to the position
• Maintains an awareness of loss prevention, security and safety following the guidelines as outlined in the Company Code of Conduct and Associate Policy manuals
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects, including wooden pallets and replacement parts
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately inspect pallets for damage
• Good communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach frequently

• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools (e.g., hammer, nail gun, compressor).
