This role works collaboratively with providers and staff to ensure efficient patient care and a positive patient experience.Why Join Our Team?Great team atmosphere with a collaborative and supportive culture.Opportunity to work alongside experienced cardiovascular providers and clinicians.Stable Monday through Friday schedule with no weekends or holidays.Ability to build a long-term career within a growing specialty practice and UPMC.Responsibilities:Accompany patients to exam/procedure room.Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.Collect patient information/history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines.Relay instructions to patients/families.Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.Complete forms/requisitions as needed.Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately.Schedule appointments.Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.Manage inventory of supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.Check schedules and organizing patient flow.Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.Assist physicians with procedures.Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.Other front office responsibilities, as required.Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.Performs other duties as assigned.Medical Assistant, SeniorHigh school diploma or equivalent is required.Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT) OR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) OR at least 1 year of patient care experience required.Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category specific tasks.Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the Medical Assistant Career Ladder, based on their individual experience and education.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewalAct 33 with renewalAct 34 with renewalAct 73 FBI Clearance with renewalUPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
