Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities Respond to any emergency or potential emergency. Security diligence: maintain control of personal key cards, prevent unauthorized entry to the facility by non-Amcor employees, and maintain security of Amcor information and equipment within your direct responsibility. Constant vigilance and participation in Food Safety practices. Prevent nonconforming product from being shipped to customers. Identify and record problems relating to product, process and quality system. Authority Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product or quality systems. Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels. Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes, or systems and verify implementation of solutions. Duties Observe all safety precautions, Food Safety requirements and plant rules to prevent injury to self or others and to prevent loss of material or damage to equipment. Follow and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Maintain good housekeeping and 5S. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic aspects of production equipment. Perform preventative maintenance in the facility, infrastructure, and equipment. Keep records of work completed in the work order system and communicate within the department and to other departments. Maintain safe, clean, and orderly work areas. Perform routine and assigned railcar and chemical systems maintenance. Diagnose equipment problems and make repairs and/or replacements of mechanisms such as tie rods, solenoid valves, sprue bushings, nozzle heaters, conveyor belts, drives, low voltage, and high voltage electrical systems. Understand and follow food safety requirements per the SQF standard. Qualifications / Education Required Physical mobility: able to sit, bend, twist, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs. Maintain attendance record within company guidelines and work required overtime. High school diploma or GED equivalency. Read, write and speak English. Past experience and proven ability within specified disciplines. Negative drug screen test results. Training required in one or more major areas of maintenance and/or 1–2 years of experience. Functional knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair/maintenance on manufacturing equipment with at least one year practical application. Basic knowledge and ability to use hand tools. Basic computer skills: Excel, Word, Lotus Notes. Pass mechanical aptitude test. Preferred Skills / Experience PowerPoint and AutoCAD are a plus but not required. Programming experience preferred.
