The Director, Alumni Affinities and Programs provides leadership and supports the strategy for a broad portfolio of alumni engagement programs that foster meaningful lifelong connections between alumni and Temple University. Reporting to the Executive Director, Alumni Engagement, the Director collaborates on the development and implementation of engagement priorities that support the mission of the Temple University Alumni Association (TUAA) and Institutional Advancement. The Director oversees key engagement portfolios, including affinity-based communities and programs that connect students and recent graduates to the university and alumni network. Through direct supervision of the Associate Director, Student and Young Alumni Engagement, Director establishes annual goals, supports program planning and execution, manages resources, and ensures initiatives align with departmental objectives and evolving alumni interests. Working collaboratively across Institutional Advancement and campus partners, the Director helps translate broader alumni engagement strategy into effective programs, volunteer opportunities, communications, and events that strengthen alumni participation and connection to Temple. * Bachelor's degree.
* At least six years of progressively responsible experience in alumni relations, constituent or community engagement, membership programs, volunteer management, nonprofit programming, advancement, or a related field.
* An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Preferred Education and Experience
* Experience supervising employees and volunteers. Required Skills and Abilities
* Significant understanding of alumni engagement, volunteer management, donor relations and/or fundraising in a higher education environment.
* Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, including ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships and strategic partnerships to maximize program effectiveness.
* Demonstrated experience applying project management skills to ensure predictable, consistent and successful program delivery.
* Proven ability to build high performance project teams, including mobilizing/motivating, resolving conflict, executing in fast paced/frequently changing environment.
* Strong ability to identify opportunities and gain organizational support for strategic initiatives.
* Experience includes high-level interactions with senior administrators, university officials, volunteer boards and alumni leaders.
* Ability to adapt and work effectively within a variety of situations and with a diverse group of individuals.
* Willingness and ability to travel regionally to cultivate and steward donor relationships, attend fundraising events, and represent the organization, including nights and weekends. This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
