Nurse Practitioner

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing clinical care, teaching, administrative duties, research, and other duties for the CBAT Department as delegated by the Medical Director of Ambulatory Care Services and/or Employer to accommodate departmental and institutional needs. NP's clinical time will emphasize the practice of psychopharmacology and be performed at the Franciscan Children's CBAT department.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

1. Attends to patients during regular appointments.
2. Keeps and maintains appropriate records relating to all professional services rendered by him/her.
3. Prepares in a timely manner all billings, reports, claims, and correspondence in the form and manner required by Franciscan Children's as necessary or appropriate under the circumstances.
4. Provides eight clinical care sessions per week of direct, face-to-face patient care for 1.0 FTE, prorated for less time.
5. Has 2 sessions of administrative time without direct patient care scheduled; however such administrative time may be used intermittently to provide temporary clinical coverage as well as for other functions such as meetings, mandatory trainings, etc... If the employee is working less than 1.0 FTE, this time will be pro-rated based on his/her contracted terms of employment.
6. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the Medical Director or Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health.
7. If clinical time is canceled, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for making up that time or using paid time off (vacation, holiday, or sick time).
8. Participates in after-hours on-call coverage as assigned by the Medical Director.
9. Provides consult-liaison service for inpatients on the Medical and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Units.

General Duties:

1. During non-clinical time, participates in other institutional, academic, community, public health, and administrative work after approval by the Medical Director. This defines the term "citizenship."
2. Works collaboratively and respectfully with all staff, peers, and departments at Franciscan to maintain a high level of care for all patients.
3. Serves on departmental and institutional committees as delegated by the Medical Director, Chief Medical Officer, or designee at Franciscan Children's discretion.
4. Actively participates in quality assurance/quality improvement activities; peer review activities; pay-for-performance initiatives; electronic medical record initiatives; or other similar Franciscan Children's or contracted Health Plans' activities.
5. Performs all other reasonable duties assigned by the Medical Director, including but not limited to teaching, trainee supervision, committee work, "citizenship," and other activities as may arise in support of the Department.
