Job Description
The Forge Operator sets up and operates forge and trim presses, furnaces, and related equipment to produce high-quality forged parts in a clean, temperature-controlled environment. This role requires hands-on mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement while working on a first-shift schedule.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate forge presses according to setup sheets, including changing back plates and shims.
- Adjust the press ram as needed to maintain proper forging dimensions and quality.
- Retrieve and handle dies from the pre-heat bench and ensure they are properly prepared for production.
- Operate a forklift safely to move materials, dies, and forged parts within the facility.
- Use tongs to pick up and place hot billets into dies while maintaining safe and efficient handling practices.
- Visually inspect billet color and heat to ensure proper temperature before forging.
- Align billets accurately into dies to ensure correct part geometry and minimize defects.
- Inspect forged parts against prints and specifications using measuring instruments and inspection tools.
- Set up and operate trim presses as required to complete the forging process.
- Set up and operate furnaces to achieve and maintain required billet and die temperatures.
- Perform preventive maintenance on presses as needed to ensure reliable operation.
- Maintain 5S standards in the forge department and immediate work areas, including organization, cleanliness, and orderliness.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methods and tools to improve work processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
- Follow and enforce all department and company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality requirements.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support overall department and plant operations.

Work Environment
The work environment is extremely clean, fully air-conditioned, and temperature controlled, providing a comfortable setting even in the forge area. The role is on first shift, typically from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The facility operates modern forging, trimming, and furnace equipment, and uses forklifts and inspection instruments as part of daily operations. Safety standards are high, with a strong safety record and structured policies and procedures. The forge area requires the use of steel-toe footwear, with reimbursement available, and uniforms are provided at no cost. Employees have access to an onsite gym, wellness programs, and onsite medical support, contributing to a healthy and supportive workplace.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
