Job Title: Registered Radiologic Technologist

- Patient care experience
- Experience with invasive radiology procedures
- Previous radiologic technology experience in a procedural setting


Description:
The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for patients during designated time frames.
This role provides care specifically in the Heart & Vascular Institute.
The patient population consists of those requiring invasive cardiology or invasive radiology studies.
The Registered Radiologic Technologist will assist the physician in all procedures and provide valuable services to patients and the team.


Essential Functions:
Administers contrast material, when applicable, according to the physician's request, by means of existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing an IV line.
Recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.
All functions and duties will be under the direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist.
Assists with inventory and supplies.
Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.
Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab, pathology, etc.
Assists in instructing new staff as necessary.
Documents accurately and completely.
Explains procedures to patients and provides care, including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.
Accurately informs procedural nurse of correct doses of intra-procedural medications, radiation, and sponge/sharp counts.
Performs on-call duties and/or works variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.
Performs all essential functions of the Radiologic Technologist.


Department-Specific Duties:
Administers and withholds contrast and treatment as appropriate.
Assesses patients for allergies.
Performs peripheral vascular work.
Inserts venous central lines.
Conducts tube changes.
Assists in embolization work, both venous and arterial.
Participates in venous thrombectomy work.
Experience with interventional neurology is preferred.
Engages in dialysis work, including AV fistulas and tunneled dialysis catheters.
Handles tube access and changes for G-tubes, cholecystostomy tubes, nephrostomy tubes, biliary drains, abscess drains, and suprapubic catheters.
Experience in neuro procedures is ideal, including cerebral arterial/venous interventions and kyphoplasty.


Schedule Notes:
Availability for Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM.


Skills:
Required skills include the capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, follow directions, and complete detailed work accurately.
Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others.
Manual dexterity is required to handle small supplies.


Preferred Skills:
Previous radiologic technology experience in a procedural setting is preferred.
Department-specific skills include the ability to work around and maintain a sterile field during procedures.
Ability to pull supplies for procedures.
Experience with interventional neurology is preferred.
