About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - ER Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Mids/Eves Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience License: Current Registered Nurse license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, CPI or MOAB, TNCC preferred Must-Have: Traveler must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival. Skills required include NGT tube insertion, IV starts, chest tube management, defibrillation, splinting, Stroke/NIHSS experience, and ICU medication management. Description: This position is for an experienced Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room. The unit has 22 beds with an additional 7-bed fast track area operating Monday through Thursday from 10 AM to 10 PM. On average, the department sees approximately 120 patients per day, with a patient population ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. Common patient conditions include cardiac issues, diabetes, renal failure, cancer, infectious diseases, CHF, ESRD, LVAD, multiple system trauma, and stroke. The nurse-patient ratio is typically 1:3-4. Support staff includes a charge nurse, unit clerk, ED techs, and a resource nurse based on staffing. There is 24/7 respiratory therapy and radiology support available in the ED. The charting system is EMR: Meditech Expanse, with medication dispensing through Pyxis. Scheduling requires working every other weekend, with a rotation of 4 days one week and 3 days the next week. Expect to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract period. Proper scrub color is pewter, with designated standards for t-shirts and jackets. Badges must be visible above the waist at all times.
