Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is executed effectively. This role includes supervision of Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while fostering a safe and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a nursing assessment for all patients within 8 hours of admission.
• Identify educational needs and goals related to patient diagnoses and collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide accurate, timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record.
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs, providing direct care through the nursing process.
• Initiate discharge planning on the day of admission and educate patients in anticipation of discharge.
• Communicate changes in patient status to support continuity of care and ensure patient safety.
• Provide direction and supervision to ancillary nursing staff and effectively delegate tasks.
• Ensure personal and environmental safety as per hospital policies and procedures.
• Engage in team-building activities to foster a positive work environment.
• Maintain communication with management regarding service needs and necessary supplies.
• Assume charge responsibility as requested after orientation.
• Pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
• ACLS certification required prior to the first shift (CIRH ONLY).
• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
