Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in a Level 2 Trauma Emergency Room. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, working alongside a dynamic healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the emergency department, including adults and pediatrics.
• Perform assessments and triage patients effectively based on their medical conditions.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and emergency treatments as prescribed.
• Manage patients with critical conditions, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Utilize equipment such as CPAP/BiPAP and assist with ventilated patients.
• Oversee procedural sedation administration and continuous IV sedation.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in charge nurse duties as required.
• Float to other units or affiliate hospitals as necessary to meet patient care demands.

Qualifications

• Active RN license with certifications in ACLS, BCLS, and PALS.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an emergency department.
• Prior experience in a Level 2 Trauma center is mandatory.
• Knowledge in phlebotomy, starting IVs, IV vasopressors, and isolation precautions.
• Preferred certifications: NIHSS and TNCC.

Shift Requirements

This position requires availability for 3x12 hour shifts. Candidates must be willing to work in a charge nurse capacity and float as needed within the facility or to nearby affiliated hospitals.

Additional Information

The emergency department operates with 48 beds but can expand to 62 beds using hall beds during high-demand periods. Staffing ratios in the ED are maintained at a maximum of 1:4 for regular patients, with progressive holds at 4:1 and medical holds at 5:1. The ED averages 6.6 behavioral health patients per day.
