Role Description

The Registered Professional Land Surveyor will be responsible for planning, performing, and overseeing land surveying activities to support structural and civil engineering projects. This full-time, on-site role in Childress, TX involves conducting field surveys, directing survey crews, collecting measurements, and verifying data using total stations and other surveying instruments. The role includes preparing topographic and boundary surveys, construction staking, and building surveys, as well as reviewing plats, legal descriptions, and survey reports for accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations. The surveyor will coordinate with engineers, contractors, and clients to clarify project requirements, resolve discrepancies, and provide clear documentation. Additional responsibilities include maintaining survey records, ensuring adherence to safety standards, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to continuous improvement of survey processes and technology.

Qualifications

• Strong land surveying skills, including Land Surveying and Surveying for engineering, boundary, and construction projects.
• Experience performing and managing Topographic Surveys to support design, grading, and site development.
• Proficiency with Total Station and related survey instruments, including setup, data collection, and basic troubleshooting.
• Experience with Building Surveying for existing structures, as-built documentation, and site layout.
• Current registration as a Professional Land Surveyor (or Registered Professional Land Surveyor) in the State of Texas, or ability to obtain in a reasonable timeframe.
• Familiarity with survey CAD and data processing software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar) and digital data management practices.
• Solid understanding of survey standards, legal descriptions, property boundaries, and applicable state and local regulations.
• Ability to work on-site in varying field conditions, manage time effectively, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for field travel to project sites.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
