About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Stepdown experience - Telemetry experience Description: Primary patient population includes cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery. This entails open heart surgeries, thoracic lung surgeries, and vascular procedures. We also receive overflow medical cardiology patients with various diagnoses. The unit has 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds. Approximately 100 staff members work on this unit. The typical staff includes charge RNs, RNs, and patient care technicians. Patient ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for patient care technicians. Equipment used includes IV pumps, epidural pumps, and various lifts. The electronic medical record system utilized is Cerner. Candidates should possess a strong skill set as follows: Required experience in stepdown and telemetry. Preferred experience in cardiovascular and vascular surgery populations. Experience in managing procedures such as epidural, chest tubes, and tube feedings is valued. Candidates should also be familiar with cardiac medication management. The ideal candidate is a team player who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is flexible. Weekends require a minimum of six shifts every six weeks. There are no on-call requirements. Flexibility to work holiday shifts is expected.
