Scientist 1, Product Development role at Catalent's San Diego facility supporting early-phase drug development. Position involves formulation studies, laboratory experimentation, and analytical characterization of drug products for clinical dosage forms, with client interaction and potential supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct formulation studies and characterization of preclinical or clinical drug products
- Design and execute laboratory experiments independently; consult supervisor for complex designs
- Interpret experimental data and maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation
- Lead technical discussions with clients regarding project development and results
- May supervise laboratory assistant and review colleagues' work for compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Science plus minimum one year drug product development experience
- Master's degree in Science without formal industry experience acceptable
- Ability to read written documents and use computer monitors regularly
- Experience with formulation types: solutions, suspensions, tablets, capsules, or amorphous intermediates
- Familiarity with analytical techniques: pH, osmolality, viscosity, particle size, DSC, PXRD, SEM, TGA
- Spray-dried dispersion experience preferred
Compensation: $74,000–$85,000 base plus bonus
