Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Banker / New Accounts CSR for a direct hire opportunity in San Jose, CA. This role is ideal for a banking professional with strong teller experience, new account opening knowledge, and a customer-first approach to financial services.

The Banker will support consumer and business clients with account opening, account maintenance, teller transactions, product recommendations, and service inquiries. This opportunity offers a professional branch environment with supportive leadership, strong teamwork, customer relationship focus, and the ability to build a long-term career in banking. The role also includes meaningful community involvement through CRA volunteer hours.

Key Responsibilities

- Open, maintain, and close consumer and business accounts, including checking, savings, CDs, IRAs, and applicable Trust and Estate accounts.
- Interview and profile clients to understand financial needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services.
- Cross-sell bank products, generate new business, and refer clients to internal partners when additional services are needed.
- Process teller transactions as needed while maintaining accurate balancing and strong operational controls.
- Ensure proper documentation, account titling, system uploads, and compliance with banking regulations, including Bank Secrecy Act requirements.
- Deliver professional, courteous service in person and by phone while helping resolve client issues with tact and discretion.

- Compensation: $20.00 to $31.90 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Open and support new consumer accounts and business accounts.
- Process teller transactions and maintain accurate balancing.
- Cross-sell banking products and refer clients to appropriate internal partners.
- Maintain documentation, compliance standards, and account records within banking systems.

- 3 to 5 years of relevant banking experience preferred for this opportunity.
- Minimum of 1 year of banking teller experience required, with higher-level roles requiring 2 to 3 years of teller experience.
- Experience opening consumer accounts required.
- Experience opening basic business accounts required for New Accounts/CSR III level and complex business accounts required for Senior New Accounts/CSR III level.
- Working knowledge of basic banking regulations, including BSA and information security.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and banking software systems.
- Strong customer relations skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and team members.
- Excellent judgment, confidentiality, attention to detail, and ability to accept responsibility in a regulated banking environment.
- Ability to provide a positive customer experience, identify client needs, and support customer retention.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior supervisory experience is preferred for Senior New Accounts/CSR III level.
- Experience supporting Treasury Services such as remote deposit capture, armored service, or courier service is preferred for senior-level candidates.
- Experience handling escalated client situations or providing transaction approvals is preferred.
- Community involvement or willingness to complete annual CRA volunteer hours is preferred.
