Substitute Custodian

LOCATION: Various Buildings
EFFECTIVE DATE: 2026/2027 School Year
HOURS: Varies

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Capable of performing assigned duties.
• Good moral character.
• Ability to read and follow written directions.
• Capable of working around children.
• Ability to climb and work at heights on the bleachers at the high school and middle school.
• Exhibit emotional stability and physical stamina necessary for meeting the requirements of the position.

DUTIES:

• Cleanliness of assigned areas, including sweeping, dusting, waxing, and buffing of floors, waste emptying. blackboard cleaning. repairing furnishings. etc.
• Handling or assisting in handling incoming or outgoing parcels or freight or express.
• Assisting in general cleaning and maintenance of the entire building during school vacation periods or at times set up by Head Custodian.
• Snow removal from entrances, and other snow removal as directed by Head Custodian of his/her building.
• Maintain lawns, shrubs, walks, and outside areas as directed by Head Custodian of his/her building.
• Assist in the general security of the building on regularly scheduled working days.
• Clean vents in kitchen as directed.
• Perform all general custodial duties as assigned by the Head Custodian.
• The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District and is expected to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance. Employees will perform related duties as assigned.

SALARY: $13.87 - 16.75 per hour

DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Building Principal and Head Custodian of the building in which he/she works and the Director of Custodial Maintenance, Buildings and Grounds.
