Seeking an experienced Stepdown / PCU Registered Nurse (RN) for a high-acuity Neuro ICU Stepdown unit . This role focuses on complex neurological and neurosurgical patients , requiring advanced monitoring and critical thinking.

Job Details

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts/week
• Shift: Rotating (Days / Evenings / Nights)
• On-Call / Weekends / Holidays: Required

Unit Overview

• Unit Type: Neuro ICU Stepdown (High Acuity PCU)
• Patient Population: Adult
• Specialized in stroke, neurosurgery, and complex neuro monitoring

Core Responsibilities

• Provide care for high-acuity neuro stepdown patients
• Perform frequent neuro assessments (Q1 neuro checks)
• Monitor and manage arterial lines and advanced drips
• Interpret telemetry and neurological changes
• Support post-op care for neurosurgical interventions
• Collaborate in multidisciplinary neuro-critical care teams

Required Experience (Strict)

• Minimum 2+ years RN experience
• Stepdown / PCU experience REQUIRED
• Neuro / stroke / neurosurgery experience REQUIRED
• Strong telemetry monitoring skills

️ Required Clinical Skills

• Q1 neuro checks
• EVDs, lumbar drains, subdural drains
• 3% NS & Cardene drips
• Arterial line management
• Post-procedures:
  • Carotid endarterectomy
  • Aneurysm coiling/clipping
  • VP shunts
  • DBS (Deep Brain Stimulator)
• Seizure management

✅ Certifications Required

• BLS

Preferred:

• ACLS
• NIHSS

License Requirement

• Active New York RN License ONLY accepted
