THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC) Human Resource (HR) Office in Region 12 is searching for a Human Resource Assistant 1 to join our team at State Correctional Institutions (SCI) Chester. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be supporting the daily work of the human resource office, ensuring processes are done correctly and on time for all staff. Work involves handling records, assisting with hiring efforts, and supporting compliance tasks. As a Human Resource Assistant 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Performance Tracking: Monitor employee reviews for accuracy and timely completion and report concerns to leadership
  • Records Management: Maintain personnel files by uploading, certifying, and removing records in line with policy
  • HR Account Monitoring: Review incoming notices and direct information to the correct staff for action
  • Meeting Support: Record and prepare minutes for meetings and share them with appropriate staff
  • Recruitment Support: Gather applicant materials, coordinate interviews, and maintain hiring records as required
  • Compliance Assistance: Support audit efforts by researching standards, collecting documents, and helping improve processes

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 1 day per week, upon successful completion of the 6-month probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in SCI Chester. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of clerical or other comparable experience which involved obtaining, providing, and evaluating information in accordance with established standards; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
