Medical Surgical Orthopedic Nurse

This 17-bed unit specializes in the care of patients undergoing orthopedic surgeries, including hips, knees, shoulders, and spine. The environment is focused on providing high-quality patient care with a collaborative team approach.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on the orthopedic unit.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry readings; complete a dysrhythmia exam as required.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including hospitalists available 24/7.
• Float to other medical-surgical floors as needed, maintaining a patient ratio of 1 to 5.
• Support unit operations during breaks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in orthopedic nursing.
• Must have previous travel nursing experience.
• BLS certification is required.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Work Schedule:

• 12-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM.
• Weekend commitment of 4 shifts within a 4-week schedule.
• Orientation to the unit will be provided for one shift.

Additional Information:

• Nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry data; portable telemetry options are available.
• There are no vented patients on the unit.
• A nurse aide is available for 8 hours during the day shift to assist with patient care.
• Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled over a 13-week assignment period.
