More information can be found at Insulator Foreman Supervise the construction, application, removal, and repair of insulating material on exposed surfaces or structures such as air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers, and buildings to help control noise and maintain temperatures. Other duties may be assigned. Responsibilities Must have insulator skills and experience. Supervise the construction, applying, removing, and repairing insulating material to exposed surfaces or structures. Read blueprints and select required insulation material. Brush adhesives on or attach metal adhesive to insulation material. Determine and select required insulation material (in sheet, tubular, or roll form), such as fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, and urethane based on material’s ability to retain heat, location, surface, shape, and equipment use. Measure and cut insulation material to specified size and shape for covering flat or round surfaces using tape measure or other measuring device, handsaw, knife, or scissors. Fit, wrap or attach required insulation material around or to structure, following blueprint specifications. Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape to secure insulation to the structure according to the type of insulation used and structure covered, using staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun. Work at heights, climb ladders and stairs, stand for long periods of time, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Other duties as assigned. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Certification/License: NCCER Insulator certification and a Valid Driver’s License. Experience: 4 years foreman experience.
