About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Cardiac knowledge preferred Description: The position is located within a 30-bed progressive care unit. The nurse-patient ratio is 5-6 patients per RN. There is unit support from an administrative clerk during daytime hours. Day and night shifts have 2-3 Patient Care Technicians available. Nursing supervision is provided along with hospitalist support. Familiarity with cardiac monitoring equipment is preferred. The documentation system used is Meditech. Medications are managed through a Pyxis dispensing system. Staff are expected to work every other weekend. Floating may occur to other medical-surgical areas as needed. Patient experience initiatives include bedside and hourly rounding. Staff are responsible for reporting known patient needs to PCTs. Documentation of telemetry application and rhythm strip acknowledgment is required. A no-pass zone policy is enforced for alarms and call lights. Team members should embody a spirit of shared governance. Awards and recognitions for excellence in care are acknowledged. There are experienced charge nurses with extensive seniority on both day and night shifts.
