The Women and Infant Services department is focused on family and offers a seamless birthing experience, with triage rooms, 6 labor and delivery rooms, and 18 post‑partum/antenatal private rooms. Successful candidates may cross‑train and expand their specialty skill set. Mastery in professional communication, dedication to patients, and a desire to teach peers are essential skills. The facility is open to midwives, obstetricians, and doulas. The Level II special care baby unit is staffed 24/7 with neonatal nurse practitioners. Role Overview The position is part‑time night work, 6 PM – 6:30 AM, two 12‑hour shifts. Shift scheduling is self‑scheduled with weekend coverage. Pay includes an 18 % night shift differential and $3 /hour weekend differential. Position Summary This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. The role is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or under their direction and uses specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary for assessment and care appropriate to the patient’s age and condition. Core Functions Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; reviews patient history and physical with patient/family, ensures completion within appropriate timeframe; reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to physicians and other appropriate caregivers; completes assessment and reassessments as needed. Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on assessment data and patient, family and health team input; creates realistic, measurable goals with patient/family; considers physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age‑specific and educational needs; plans care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and revises the plan based on changing patient needs. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health‑care team; provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan, complying with policies, standards and regulatory requirements; delegates appropriately and provides nursing supervision to licensed nurses and other personnel; promotes continuity of care by communicating patient status accurately to other caregivers. Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan of care as needed; assesses progress toward goals and expected outcomes with other health‑care team members; evaluates effectiveness of patient teaching. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record; documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy; reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient response; notes physician orders accurately and timely. Provides care based on best evidence and may participate in research activities; participates in unit or facility shared leadership; engages in education, role development and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families and visitors; supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring as appropriate. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and safe care; actively participates in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, including professional organizations. May supervise staff and workflow of the department in some roles. Interacts with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and external contacts such as community providers and agencies regarding patient care; works with clergy to provide spiritual support; synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to support patient and family response to changes in health status. Minimum Qualifications Must possess a current, valid RN license in the state of practice, a temporary/interim RN license in the state of practice, or a compact RN licensure for the current state; BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice. Experience in the clinical area for which you are applying is desired. Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to your specialty area through annual validations. For acute care positions, a minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting is required. Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a registered nurse in the specialty area. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred.
