Phlebotomist

Job Description Phlebotomist II is responsible for accurate collection and handling of patient laboratory specimens for diagnostic testing according to established best practice in a manner that enhances patient and caregiver engagement in an experienced manner. Location and Hours Northfield Clinic – 8900 E 46th Place, Denver, CO 80238 Part‑time – 25 hours per week Shift: 12:15 pm – 5:15 pm, Monday – Friday Hourly rate: $20.00 – $26.22 (dependent on experience) Essential Functions Accurately collect patient specimens for diagnostic testing in a professional medical environment. Perform specimen collection using venipuncture, capillary puncture, PIVO, and throat swab collections across a range of patient acuity levels. Adhere to personal protective equipment requirements (gowns, gloves, lab coats, face shields, masks) in inpatient and outpatient settings. Communicate procedures and instructions with patients and family members, demonstrating empathy during every interaction. Take on‑call shifts and participate in holiday rotations as needed. Perform advanced collection and troubleshooting techniques such as bilateral nares or non‑standard kit collection. Maintain organizational skills and navigate multiple computer systems while working as a member of a team. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Twelve months of phlebotomy experience, phlebotomy training, or national certification approved by manager/supervisor (preferred). Physical Requirements Employee must see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors requiring verbal communication and hearing; need to interpret alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, especially during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy; includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/carrying patients and obtaining/distributing supplies and equipment; includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment. May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time. For roles requiring driving: expected to drive a vehicle requiring sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
