Job Description
This role performs complex aircraft assembly, disassembly, modification, and overhaul work on structural components, mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and aircraft systems within a repair station environment. You will investigate defects, perform rework and high‑risk non‑conformance resolution, and ensure all work complies with regulatory and company requirements. The position also supports training and mentoring of other technicians while promoting a strong culture of teamwork, pride, and ownership.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, disassemble, and modify aircraft components by changing, removing, or replacing parts to correct failures or implement engineering changes.
- Remove and replace components for repair or replacement to support product serviceability and ensure aircraft are returned to service in an airworthy condition.
- Perform complex production assembly operations on structural parts, mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and aircraft systems, equipment, and accessories using manual or automated tools.
- Perform rework and resolve high‑risk non‑conformances in accordance with engineering requirements, regulatory standards, and internal procedures.
- Investigate product defects, determine root causes, and plan, organize, and complete large‑scale removal and restoration processes in coordination with multiple stakeholders.
- Measure components and make independent adjustments, including the use of shims, lapping, and other documented processes, to achieve required specifications and tolerances.
- Oversee assembly, disassembly, and overhaul functions to ensure the adequacy, accuracy, and thoroughness of all product work scopes.
- Independently perform aircraft and component modifications to meet deliverable product requirements and ensure conformity to engineering and regulatory standards.
- Identify discrepancies and collaborate with engineering to resolve them, providing feedback and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Ensure the adequacy, accuracy, and thoroughness of all product modifications, including documentation and verification of work performed.
- Document procedures, repairs, replacements, modifications, and inspection results in accordance with established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance.
- Adhere to FAA Part 145 Repair Station requirements, including preparation, review, and compliance related to Form 8130‑3.
- Follow all applicable FAA regulations, company policies, and safety regulations, including FOD control, tool control, and health and safety procedures.
- Understand and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and technical specifications, and provide guidance and advice to less experienced technicians.
- Provide training and mentoring to other technicians to enhance skills across the production system and support a culture of continuous improvement.
- Provide recommendations to improve production restoration methods, tools, and processes based on hands‑on experience and defect investigations.
- Perform aircraft interior and systems work, including tasks related to seats, lavatories, galleys, and other interior components as required.
- Use drills, rivet guns, grinders, and other hand and power tools to perform drilling, riveting, shimming, rework, sanding, sealing, painting, and laminate work on aircraft structures and components.
- Support aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities, including airframe maintenance and aircraft modification tasks in line with A&P and aviation maintenance practices.
- Resolve both routine and complex problems encountered during maintenance, overhaul, and modification of deliverable products, escalating issues appropriately when needed.
- Model and promote a culture of One Team, Pride, and Ownership in daily work and interactions with colleagues.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance and successfully complete required on‑the‑job or formal classroom training as a condition of ongoing assignment.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 3 years of aerospace, fabrication, or manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working on 737 or 787 programs.
- At least 1 year of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions and reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications.
- Proficiency with aircraft assembly processes including drilling, shimming, rework, riveting, and use of rivet guns.
- Experience working with aircraft interiors such as seats, lavatories, galleys, and related components.
- Familiarity with FAA Part 145 Repair Station requirements and associated documentation such as Form 8130‑3.
- Ability to follow FAA, company, and safety regulations, including FOD control, tool control, and health and safety procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) environments, particularly within a repair station setting.
- Experience in airframe maintenance and aircraft modification activities.
- Exposure to aviation maintenance practices aligned with A&P standards and procedures.
- Hands‑on experience with grinders, fastener installation, sanding, sealing, painting, and laminate work on aircraft structures.
- Experience with both commercial aircraft platforms, including large transport aircraft and potentially other manufacturers’ platforms.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
