Physician Assistant

Description The main job of a Physician Assistant is to support the physical and mental health of their patients by working closely with them and their families. Some of their common duties and responsibilities include: Greeting patients and gathering information about their medical history and current symptoms Performing physical exams to make correct diagnoses Working with Physicians and Nurses to prescribe and administer treatments Ordering diagnostic testing, such as bloodwork and imaging tests Monitoring patient progress and making adjustments to treatment plans as needed Instructing patients and their families about lifestyle changes and self-care techniques that complement treatment plans Maintaining accurate patient records Referring patients to specialists as needed Requirements Qualifications: Delaware mandates that PAs complete a degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). The state does not recognize degrees from non-accredited institutions, making it essential for students to verify accreditation before enrollment. Graduate of an accredited PA program and pass the NCCPA certification exam. Must have a bachelor’s degree in physician assistant studies or a related field.
