Job Duties

Makes recommendations on major diagnostics and treatment plans.

Monitors treatment effectiveness through evidence-based medicine and alters course of treatment as needed through individualized treatment plan.

Provides appropriate referrals to other medical and mental health care providers in and outside of the medical treatment facility.

Collaborates with physicians in other medical specialties on cases involving rare, complicated and multifaceted cases that require advance treatments.

Determines and provides mental health assessments of fitness and suitability for duty, weapon handling, and deployments of service members based on psychiatric clinical assessment.

Participates in hospital approved mental health training programs.

Participates in committees and meetings responsible for the evaluation of care provided to patients at the military treatment facility.
