Lab – Phlebotomist

Responsibilities
  • Draw blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures
  • Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Verify patient demographic information and label specimens correctly in the presence of the patient
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of collection activities
  • Create a trusting environment by explaining procedures clearly to patients and demonstrating professionalism
  • Ensure safety and compliance with all policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Perform collections at various locations, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy sites, with flexibility for travel and flexible hours
  • Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting while maintaining quality and error-free work
Required Skills
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, with the ability to collect from pediatric and geriatric patients
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen labeling and documentation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with patients, peers, and supervisors
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and a clean driving record if travel is required
  • Keyboard and data entry proficiency
Additional Skills & Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington
  • 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
  • Experience working in a patient service center environment is highly preferred
  • Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime to meet staffing needs
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to adapt to change
