Role Description The Executive Director or Senior Executive (title commensurate with experience) is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Peabody, MA. This position is responsible for overseeing branch operations, including program delivery, membership services, community outreach, and facility management, ensuring alignment with the YMCA of Metro North’s mission, vision, and cause. The leader will develop and execute strategic plans, manage budgets, drive revenue growth, and steward resources to support sustainable, high-quality services. Daily responsibilities include supervising and mentoring staff, building and maintaining community partnerships, engaging volunteers, and fostering an inclusive, values-driven culture. The role also involves collaborating with association leadership, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and championing initiatives that strengthen individuals, families, and the broader community. Qualifications Leadership and management skills, including team supervision, performance coaching, and the ability to build an inclusive, mission-driven culture. Strategic planning, program development, and organizational planning skills to guide branch growth and community impact. Financial management skills, such as budgeting, forecasting, and revenue and expense oversight, ideally within a nonprofit or community-based organization. Community engagement and relationship-building skills, including partnership development with local organizations, businesses, and stakeholders. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including public speaking, presentation skills, and effective interpersonal communication. Operational and project management skills, including organizing complex initiatives, managing facilities, and ensuring compliance with safety and organizational standards. Experience in youth development, health and wellness, or social services environments is highly beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as Nonprofit Management, Business, Public Administration, or Social Services); an advanced degree is preferred for senior-level consideration. However, experience can serve as a replacement for this qualification. Demonstrated commitment to serving community members of all ages, backgrounds, and income levels.
