RN Clinical Educator Manager

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse Clinical Educator Manager is responsible for maintaining and coordinating a comprehensive clinical education program across the healthcare consortium to ensure staff meet regulatory requirements and maintain required certifications and competencies. This role involves designing, teaching, and evaluating training programs, supporting trauma registrar programs, and collaborating with clinical and administrative teams to promote professional development and high-quality patient care. The position requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and the ability to manage educational initiatives across multiple sites. Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and coordinate consortium-wide clinical education programs to meet regulatory requirements and certifications such as BLS, PALS, ACLS, and TNCC.
  • Design, teach, and evaluate training programs for professional and non-professional staff.
  • Serve as an internal training and organizational development consultant and provide career development resources.
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, and administer clinical specialty training programs including human patient simulator training.
  • Oversee the trauma registrar program to maintain compliance with state regulatory requirements and support trauma designation at outlying clinics.
  • Collaborate with site and department managers to identify clinical education needs and best practices.
  • Lead clinical education teams and develop clinical competencies in defined specialty areas.
  • Conduct audits related to clinical education and develop action plans based on findings.
  • Coordinate training resources and classes, including those provided by external instructors or companies.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of educational activities to ensure quality and effectiveness.
  • Participate in Nursing Service goal setting and nurse executive committee meetings.
  • Support Clinical Educators in the development and implementation of their programs.
  • Supervise trauma registrar programs and assist with trauma education and billing processes.
  • Maintain certifications, licensure, and complete annual competencies and evaluations.
  • Address employee concerns in accordance with Human Resources policies.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Alaska license application required before start date if direct hire).
  • Minimum of 5 years professional nursing experience with at least 2 years as a staff RN in a specialty such as ER, ICU, or OB.
  • Minimum of 3 years professional clinical instructor experience.
  • Two years supervisory experience.
  • Clinical competency within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
  • Manager competency within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC instructor certification preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of hire; PALS and NRP must be obtained within 6 months and maintained biannually.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience in Emergency Room, Trauma, and/or Remote Rural healthcare settings.
  • Knowledge of Alaska State Trauma Program, trauma education, and registrar program.
  • Skills in developing and evaluating evidence-based standards of care and training modalities.
  • Experience with hospital and consortium policies and procedures.
Special Considerations:
  • Some travel required, including by jet, small aircraft, and boat, to support outlying clinics and trauma programs.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Work involves standing, walking, sitting, and occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Participation in at least 50% of Nurse Executive Committee meetings expected.
Scheduling:
  • Work schedule and shifts to be determined by the consortium's operational needs.
  • May include coordination of class schedules and instructor availability across multiple sites.
