Medical Director

Medical DirectorResponsible for establishing, maintaining and enforcing acceptable professional and ethical standards of the facility's medical services according to its policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives. Assists Administrative Director in ensuring the facilities meets all regulatory agency rules and regulations. The Medical Director works in unison with the Administrative Director and Clinic Director in coordinating and directing patient care in the facility according to adopted policies and procedures, state and federal regulations and accepted accreditation standards.PhilosophySupports the facility's mission, values, goals and objectivesPerforms in accordance with the facility's policies and proceduresFollows the facility's standards for ethical business conductConducts self as a positive role model and team memberRespects patients' rights to privacy, dignity and confidentialityParticipates in facility committees, meetings, in-services and activitiesGeneralProvides direct services to clients in the Opioid Treatment Program to include but not limited to; physical examinations, medication induction and diagnostic testing and assessmentsOversees medical issues of day-to-day operationsEnsures the establishment, maintenance, continuing improvement and enforcement of acceptable professional and ethical standards and performance of the medical staff and patient care personnelReports to the Administrative Director regarding the quality and efficiency of medical care providedMaintains open line of communication with Administrative Director and Clinic DirectorSupports administrative decisions and activities affecting patient careInterprets and provides guidance on facility medical policies to enhance patient careProfessional CompetenceParticipates in continuing education and other learning experiencesParticipates in facility teaching programs for employees and medical staff on topics of special interest/pertinent to the clinical aspects of outpatient surgeryMaintains membership in relevant professional organizationsEducation, Training, and Experience Required:Licensed and currently registered as such by NYS Education DepartmentMinimum of five (5) years of education, training and/or experience in substance use disorder servicesPreferred - must hold a subspecialty board certification in addiction psychiatry from the American Board of Medical Specialties, an addiction certification from the American Society of Addiction Medicine, a certification by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM), or hold a subspecialty board certification in Addiction Medicine from the American Osteopathic Association.Must possess current DEA CertificateMust possess a federal DATA 2000 waiver (buprenorphine-certified)Must maintain credentialing requirements including continuing medical education unitsMust possess ACLS or Advanced Life SupportProficiency in computer skills, especially using Outlook, Word, Excel and customized databases.
