Paramedic - Mt. Vernon- PRN

Responsibilities Under the direction of the Medical Director and in accordance with the protocols, procedures, and policies of Mercy EMS, a Paramedic performs direct patient care. Duties include assessment, evaluation, basic and advanced medical rescue to access, stabilize, evacuate, and transport patients to appropriate destinations in line with Mercy System goals, the philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy, Standard of Care, and Employee Code of Conduct. Paramedics also perform clerical and maintenance duties and any related tasks as assigned. Position Details Licensure: Paramedic (EMT‑P) license in the state of practice and a valid driving license. Age: Applicants must be at least 19 years of age. Certifications/Registration: Hazmat Awareness Level training, ACLS at hire, and PALS within six months of hire or transfer. Other Requirements: Unimpaired mobility; ability to respond quickly to an ambulance; access patients in difficult terrain; climb stairs; work in close and dangerous environments such as damaged vehicles; partner to carry equipment and patients; perform strenuous physical requirements such as CPR, lifting and moving equipment and patients in various environmental conditions; correctable vision suitable for day and night operation; color acuity adequate for determination of skin and blood color; read medication dosages on drug labels and syringes; hear and understand information from patients, families, or bystanders; hear breath sounds and accurately determine auscultated blood pressures; differentiate conversations in active, distracting environments; hear and understand radio traffic when responding with lights and sirens; speak and enunciate at a level audible to others, speak clearly in stressful situations, and communicate verbally with patients, families and other emergency services personnel. Physical: Successfully satisfy the physical demands of the role, including a pre‑hire and annual fitness‑for‑duty test. Licensure: ITLS or equivalent training. Experience: Background in Emergency Services. Other: Training in Tactical EMS (TEMS) before participation if services are provided.
