Join Iridium's Test Engineering team as a Test Engineer II! In this role you will contribute to the research, development, testing, and sustaining engineering activities of Iridium services. As a Test Engineer II, your work is focused on verifying the reliability and robustness of Iridium products and communication services. You will also perform development activities related to our test automation efforts. Don't miss out on this opportunity to join an innovative and dynamic team at the forefront of satellite communications technology!What You’ll Do:Work collaboratively with software, hardware, and system development engineers to ensure high product qualityDecompose requirements into verifiable test objectivesPerform integration, maintenance, and operation of system hardware, lab hardware, and software systemsConduct implementation and maintenance of communication products automated test system and softwareDevelop scripts and/or systems to automatically test and validate products, collect test artifacts, produce product test metrics and generate reportsRecreate and isolate reported software and/or hardware defects using test infrastructure and document non-compliancesResearch and assist with implementing hardware upgrades of ground infrastructure and test systemsParticipate in maintaining and executing test automation for feature, defect and regression testingHelp your team with maintaining configuration management of test automation software and scriptsWork with industry standard tools and software such as Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana, Amazon Web Services, CI/CD DevOps pipelines, containers and moreWhat You’ll Need to Succeed:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field2+ years of relevant experience with test execution and analysis, test automation, and/or software developmentIntermediate knowledge of Cloud Computing Services and Cloud InfrastructureIntermediate knowledge of featured services such as storage, compute services, containers, and virtual serversKnowledge of various software languages including Python, C, C++, C#, Java, etc.Strong desire to think creatively and drive innovative solutions to complex problems, continuously improving processes, tools, or technologiesA solid understanding of Linux and/or Unix operating systemsA strong motivation to engage with and enhance test automation processes through innovationStrong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to othersHave confidence and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your teamMust be able to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when neededBe active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:Previous hands-on experience with the following:Software management tools (JIRA, GIT and/or Bamboo)Integrated Development Environment (PyCharm, Spyder, Pydev, etc.)Machine virtualization, specifically VMware Desktop and ESXiDatabases such as Oracle, MySQL, and/or SQL ServerKnowledge of network switches and routersKnowledge of space systems and orbital analysisAgile development methodologyWe’ll also need you to:This position directly performs under, supports, or is exposed to a U.S. government contract. To comply with the requirements of that U.S. government contract, applicants for this position must be U.S. citizens Be willing and able to travel up to 15 days annually Be willing and able to be on-call to support operational issuesWork Environment:This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer.
