Second Shift Custodian

Regular – Custodian – Class III

Reports To: Building Principal/Custodial Supervisor

Available: August 31st, 2026

Hours: Monday - Friday 2:30 pm-11:00pm

Terms Of Employment: 12-Month Full Time, salary in accordance with the PESPA Collective Bargaining Agreement

Description: To perform services as an integral member of a custodial team of workers charged with ensuring that the environment is kept in a safe, sanitary and well-ordered manner for all employees, students and visitors.

Principal Function:

1. Knowledgeable of safety regulations and Right-to-Know laws as well as procedures for working with asbestos-containing materials in schools.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
3. Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions.
4. Ability and willingness to follow written and verbal directions.
5. Ability to exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks and to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
6. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
7. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally.
8. Ability to work in varied and extreme temperatures.
9. Any additional or alternative qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board of School Directors.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

1. Set up for special events in the various facilities of the District or on District fields or grounds.
2. Remove snow and ice from District sidewalks and parking areas.
3. Distribute/deliver teacher supplies as requested.
4. Respond to any school emergency within the scope of the Custodian's ability and report any and all problems to the Facility Manager.
5. Vacuum, dust, mop, scrub, sweep, remove trash and disinfect the building per the established procedures and directives of the Facility Manager and Custodial Supervisor.
6. Clean and sanitize restroom walls, floors, mirrors and fixtures. Refill soap and paper product dispensers.
7. Clean windows, dust lockers and blinds, and buff floors when directed.
8. Clean building areas pursuant to the Building Cleaning Schedule or perform the assigned designated task pursuant to a "Team Cleaning" method if applicable.
9. Assist visitors to the building after school hours and in the absence of any other school district personnel.
10. Ensure the security of the building by checking and locking, where applicable, all doors and windows.
11. This position is second shift when school is in session and may become first shift when school is not in session (holidays and summer).
12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Facility Manager, Building Principal and/or Custodial Supervisor.

Requirements:

1. High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree ("GED").
2. Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License and a good driving record.

• PA State Police Clearance (Act 34) – Dated within one year
• Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151) – Dated within one year
• FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114) – Dated within one year
• School Personnel Health Form (Physical and TB test within 90 days)
• PDE 6004 Form (Act 24)
• Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release Form(s) (Act 168)

SEDENTARY: involves sitting most of the time. The incumbent should be able to exert up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.

LIGHT WORK: If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the individual sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. The incumbent should be able to exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

MEDIUM WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.

HEAVY WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 75 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.

VERY HEAVY WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
