Emergency Management & Safety Coordinator Job Title: Emergency Management & Safety Coordinator Job Location: 195 S Budler Road, Romeoville, IL 60446 Salary Range: $102,136.38 - $137,883.48 Hours: Monday – Friday from 8 am – 4 pm Must be available for response after hours, on weekends, and holidays in the event of major emergencies or disasters. In cooperation with the Village Manager and staff, maintain safety program and emergency management agency. Lead the development of policies and procedures to ensure effective licensing, accreditation, and compliance with regulatory bodies. Regularly conduct assessments and surveys to determine the safety and emergency preparedness needs of the Village of Romeoville that will need to be addressed in disaster planning. Coordinate actual or potential emergency preparedness or response efforts. Reviews and analyzes emergency management plans; makes recommendations to revise, update and improve plans to effectively handle disasters or major emergencies; develops new plans as needed; and ensures plans are current and conform with federal, state and county requirements. Plans, manages, and conducts emergency response training exercises involving multiple departments, outside agencies, and local, state, and federal government personnel. Develop educational and community outreach programs to inform citizens on overall emergency preparedness. Maintain all equipment and supplies related to Safety and Emergency Preparedness and make recommendations for improved equipment and facilities, as needed. Research, plan, and implement special projects. Attend community events, programs, and emergency calls and partner with other Emergency Management organizations. Maintain the following programs: Storm Ready, GETS (government emergency telephone system) program, NIMS (National Incident Management System) certification program. Operate and maintain the village emergency warning siren system and Thor Guard Lightning protection system along with monthly testing. Serves as the Emergency Management Coordinator, linking various internal and external resources to determine program priorities and ensure a coordinated response to emergency, non-emergency and special events throughout the Village of Romeoville. Maintain and operate the two Village Emergency Operations centers. Coordinate with external entities that utilize Emergency Operation Centers. Analyze loss data, risk factors, and best practices in municipal risk management; promote a safe working environment and public facilities by developing and recommending safety and risk management policies and procedures and partnering with operating departments to develop and implement safety and loss prevention training, and to conduct periodic safety self-assessments. Reviews accidents and mitigation strategies, develops and leads an executive safety committee comprised of department heads. Provide guidance to departments on safety and loss prevention, including guidance on relevant OSHA requirements and standards, and other workplace safety laws and regulations. Assists departments in preparing for and responding to regulatory agency inspections and inquiries. Manage and coordinate efforts to explore and secure external funding opportunities; oversee grant availability and application for state and federal funding for emergency preparedness. Supervise around 20 part-time staff, recommend new hires, provide training, assign job duties, discipline, and review and evaluate performance of staff. Schedule, approval payroll, and maintain personnel information and records. Renew and update Village of Romeoville FCC (Federal communication commission) licensing. Facilitate warehouse safety program as mandated by Illinois legislature. Assist the business community with their emergency preparedness planning and training efforts. Must be available for response after hours, on weekends, and holidays in the event of major emergencies or disasters. Update and maintain budget. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions: Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Safety, Public Safety, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Five years of experience in emergency management and safety.
