We are seeking a dedicated Inpatient Psychiatry Physician to provide comprehensive psychiatric consultation and liaison services for the emergency department and inpatient units, as well as manage patients in the Behavioral Intervention Support Program (BISP). This role includes 24?hour coverage to ensure continuous, high?quality patient care within a hospital-based 7?on/7?off model (with some scheduling flexibility). Position Overview Inpatient psychiatry position with a mix of:Emergency department and inpatient psychiatric consultations (adult and adolescent)Consultation?liaison work with medical and surgical servicesOngoing management of patients in a Behavioral Intervention Support Program (BISP)8 - Bed Inpatient Adult Unit24?hour coverage within a hospital?based 7?on/7?off schedule (with some flexibility)Adolescents: Very low volume and those patients are transferred out Key Clinical ResponsibilitiesPerform comprehensive psychiatric assessments in the ED and on inpatient unitsFormulate diagnoses and evidence?based treatment plans for acute presentationsProvide consult?liaison support for medically complex patients with psychiatric needsManage BISP patients, including individualized care plans, monitoring, and adjustmentsParticipate in crisis evaluations and emergency consultations as neededCollaborate closely with nursing, social work, therapy, and other disciplines to deliver coordinated careAcademic & Program InvolvementTeach and mentor psychiatry residents and medical studentsServe as an advisor/mentor to assigned residents each academic yearContribute to resident evaluation, scheduling, and other program dutiesDeliver didactic lectures and participate in faculty development activitiesEngage in rounds, case conferences, journal clubs, and regular faculty meetingsTake part in residency recruitment, including interview days and ranking/scoring discussionsLeadershipParticipate in quality improvement initiatives within the psychiatry serviceHelp refine protocols and best practices for inpatient and consult?liaison care Qualifications MD or DO, Psychiatry trainedBoard certified or board eligible in PsychiatryEligible for an unrestricted state medical licensePrior inpatient and/or consult?liaison psychiatry experience preferredStrong diagnostic and treatment skills, excellent communication, and a collaborative mindset Lifestyle Information: Live in a beautiful family-oriented area  Affordable cost of living300 days of sunshine annuallyOutdoor amenities: Bidwell Park (3,600+ acres), hiking, biking, horseback ridingThriving downtown: local restaurants, boutiques, concerts, farmers marketsTop-rated schools: public, charter, and private optionsEasy access to Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, Mt.
