Established (40+ Years) AM Law 200 Defense Firm Seeking Associate Attorney for Labor & Employment in Pasadena or San Diego, CAAn established firm with over 40 years in practice is a leading full-service defense firm seeking an Associate Attorney with 2+ years of experience in labor and employment law to join their Pasadena, CA or San Diego, CA office. This role is ideal for attorneys with a background in private sector L&E litigation as well as those currently working in the public sector who are ready to transition to a private defense practice. The firm handles a broad range of matters including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, collective bargaining, and public sector labor law.Offer:$120,000 - $225,000+, contingent on experienceBonuses and profit sharing401(k) planComprehensive health, dental, and vision insuranceOpportunity to join an established, employee-valued firm with a collaborative cultureQualifications:2+ years of experience in labor and employment law, whether in private practice or the public sectorExperience with L&E litigation matters including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claimsFamiliarity with government law topics related to public sector employment, such as California's open meeting and public records laws, is a plusJuris Doctorate from an accredited law school; strong academic credentials from a top 50 law school or top 15% of class from a non-top-50 school preferredActive California Bar membership in good standingSolid research, writing, and analytical skills with the ability to manage competing deadlinesResponsibilities:Managing a caseload involving labor and employment litigation across both private and public sector mattersConducting discovery, drafting motions and briefs, and handling depositionsRepresenting clients in evidentiary hearings, status conferences, dispositive motions, and trial proceedingsAdvising clients on labor relations, collective bargaining agreements, and public sector labor law complianceCollaborating on non-litigation matters including internal investigations, labor arbitrations, and advice and counsel work alongside firm partners
