Contract Details

• Position Type: Contract
• Contract Duration: 3 months
• Pay Rate: $45.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Night Shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (3×12 Hours); Every Other Weekend required; Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed

Job Summary

This is a Medical Surgical LPN travel contract role at Rochester General Hospital, a 528-bed acute care teaching facility in Rochester, NY. The LPN will take their own patient assignment with the support of an RN in a Medical/Telemetry care setting serving patients with conditions including COPD exacerbation, infections, failure to thrive, and social issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Take own patient assignment with the support of an RN
• Perform vital signs, pain assessment, intake/output monitoring, isolation precautions, and physical restraints
• Specimen labeling, oxygen administration via nasal cannula, feeding tube management, telemetry monitoring, and 12-lead EKG
• Medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, ear and eye drops), IV therapy with pumps, and blood glucose monitoring
• Wound care basics (simple dressings, JP/Hemovac drains), bathing and mouth care
• Foley catheter insertion (male/female) and clean catch urine collection
• Communicate status changes to RN/MD
• Float within skillset as required

Required Skills

• EPIC charting experience required
• Acute Care experience within the last 2 years
• Proficiency in vital signs, pain assessment, intake/output monitoring, isolation precautions, and physical restraints
• Specimen labeling and oxygen administration via nasal cannula
• Feeding tube management and telemetry monitoring
• 12-lead EKG
• Medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, ear and eye drops)
• IV therapy with pumps and blood glucose monitoring
• Wound care basics (simple dressings, JP/Hemovac drains)
• Foley catheter insertion (male/female) and clean catch urine collection
• Ability to communicate status changes to RN/MD
• MS/Tele care setting experience

Education Requirements

• Active New York Single State LPN license required (NY is not a Compact state; pending license not accepted)
• BLS certification required

Required Experience

• Must be able to take own patient assignment with the support of an RN
• Acute Care experience within the last 2 years required

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Night shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (3×12 Hours)
• Patient ratios: 1:5-6
• Unit: Medical patients - COPD exacerbation, infections, failure to thrive, social issues
• Floating required within skillset
• Scrub color: Any combination of navy blue and white
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required, if needed

Important Notes

• Pending LPN license not accepted - must have an active New York Single State LPN license at time of submission (NY is not a Compact state)
• RTO/block and special scheduling requests must be submitted upon submission
• Call-off policy: The client may cancel (call off) up to three shifts during the 13-week contract period without incurring charges for the canceled hours
• Local candidates accepted for LPNs
• All submittals require EPIC charting experience
