Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L) – Pediatric Neurodevelopment

Overland Park, KS | Part-Time | $32–$35/hour

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 2:00–7:00 PM (start time negotiable)

We are looking for an energetic, compassionate and dependable Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L) to join our pediatric neurodevelopmental center in Overland Park.

This is an excellent opportunity for a COTA who enjoys working directly with children, wants consistent part-time hours, and values hands-on mentorship and professional development.

Why COTAs Enjoy This Role

Direct mentorship from an experienced OTR/L.
You will work under the supervision of an OTR/L with 30 years of experience in child development and receive ongoing coaching, support and professional development.

No productivity quotas.
Your focus is on engaging with children, delivering high-quality sessions and helping them progress, not chasing billable units throughout the day.

Predictable schedule.
Work three consistent afternoons each week: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00–7:00 PM.

Paid specialized training.
You do not need previous experience with our specific program. We provide approximately six weeks of paid training in our neurodevelopmental, sensory-motor and cognitive approach.

Make meaningful connections with children and families.
You will work with children consistently over time and have the opportunity to see their growth firsthand.

Fun, active environment.
This is not a traditional clinic or skilled nursing environment. Sessions are highly interactive and incorporate movement, sensory-motor activities, balance, coordination and cognitive activities.

What You'll Do

Working under the supervision and direction of an OTR/L, you will:

• Work directly with children in structured one-hour sessions
• Implement individualized activities and interventions within your scope of practice
• Lead sensory-motor, balance, coordination, visual-motor and cognitive activities
• Motivate and encourage children while maintaining appropriate expectations
• Observe performance and accurately document relevant data and progress
• Modify activities as directed by the supervising OTR/L
• Help children work through frustration, regulation challenges and difficult tasks in a supportive manner
• Communicate professionally with your supervising OTR/L, team members and families
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Current Kansas Occupational Therapy Assistant license, or eligibility to obtain Kansas licensure before starting
• NBCOT certification as applicable
• Ability to consistently work Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00–7:00 PM
• Dependable transportation and excellent attendance
• Comfortable working actively with children
• Ability to receive professional feedback and incorporate it into your work

Physical Requirements

Because sessions include movement-based activities, this position requires the ability to regularly get up and down from the floor, bend, reach and move alongside children and occasionally lift or assist with equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
2:00 PM–7:00 PM (start time negotiable)
