About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med-Surg/Tele experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 18 months of Med/Tele experience - BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Description: The facility has 109 licensed beds and is not a teaching hospital. There are no trauma designations available. The unit specializes in medical telemetry care. The patient population includes individuals with stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and GI bleed. Staffing ratios are typically 1:5-6, but can increase to 1:7-8 depending on acuity. General Med/Tele skillset is required, including stroke experience and NIH assessments. Candidates must be proficient in chest tube management, PIV starts, tracheostomy care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, and drain/tube management. Experience with PCA pumps and medication drip management, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids, is essential. Support staff includes CNAs who can perform certified tasks such as Foley catheter insertion and IV removal for discharge. Phlebotomy services are available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring and tech support are provided around the clock. EMR platform used is Epic, with IV pumps from Alaris and medication dispensing from Omnicell. There may be requirements to float between facilities, based on regional needs, within the scope of practice. Unit culture is described as positive and team-driven.
