Acute Care Technician - Med Surg Oncology (Part Time Day Shift) Role: Part Time Day Shift at TriHealth Good Samaritan Hospital Location: 375 Dixmyth Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45220 Work Schedule: Part Time Days – 48 hours bi-weekly, 6:30am – 7:00pm, Every 3rd weekend rotation, Holiday rotation At Good Samaritan Hospital’s Oncology Unit, care is rooted in expertise, compassion, and innovation. This 22-bed unit serves adult and geriatric patients with diverse medical‑surgical needs, including those facing complex oncological conditions. Patients include individuals recovering from autologous bone marrow transplants and those who have undergone cutting‑edge CAR‑T cell therapies. Our unit is at the forefront of advanced cancer care and is FACT accredited. Many patients receive chemotherapy alongside high‑risk medications, making attention to detail and multidisciplinary teamwork essential. Nurses in this unit provide comprehensive care while advancing their expertise. The Oncology Unit offers a flexible and supportive environment with 12‑hour shifts and 6‑week self‑scheduling. Staff follow a rotation of every third weekend and holidays, with options for day, night, and weekend‑only shifts to accommodate varying needs. New nurses begin with a 6‑week competency‑based orientation led by experienced preceptors, tailored to each individual's needs. This ensures confidence in caring for oncology patients and administering specialized treatments. Day shifts operate with a nurse‑to‑patient ratio of 1:4‑5, while night shifts maintain a ratio of 1:5‑6, providing a balance of efficiency and support. Whether a new graduate or an experienced RN, the Oncology Unit offers an opportunity to grow skills while making a meaningful impact. Responsibilities Perform and document basic patient care tasks under RN supervision; maintain competency in trained skills, complete assignments on time, and seek clarification when needed. Maintain a safe, clean environment by reporting hazards, following Infection Control policies, completing safety event reports, and adhering to safety and emergency procedures. Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and team members; report patient information and assignment issues promptly; document observations accurately; collaborate with the healthcare team and use the chain of command appropriately. Support unit operations by performing supply, equipment, and environmental tasks; report shortages or equipment problems and ensure supplies/equipment are ready for the next user. Demonstrate accountability and commitment to self‑growth; identify areas for improvement and support organizational and unit changes. Age 17 with work permit. Basic Life Support (BLS). Reading and math ability appropriate to the position. Experience as an STNA, PCA or ACT strongly preferred.
