In this hybrid role, you will act as a dedicated divisional liaison for either Arts & Humanities or Math & Natural Sciences. Your core mission is to provide high-touch career advising and build robust networks tailored specifically to the students and faculty within your assigned division. By embedding yourself in these academic communities, you will help students translate their specific studies into viable career pathways. Complementing this foundational work, each Consultant owns a critical operational pillar for the Career Center team. Depending on the candidate’s strengths and the needs of the team, this third area of responsibility will focus primarily on either Digital Communications & Strategy (managing the voice of the office) or Event Management & Programming (designing the spaces for connection). Both roles report to the Managing Director of the Career Center. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Core Area 1: Divisional Advising and Education Programming (40%) Targeted Coaching: Provide individualized 1-on-1 career consulting specifically for students within your assigned division (Arts & Humanities or Math & Natural Sciences), guiding them from early exploration to job offer negotiation. Divisional Advocacy: Serve as the subject matter expert for your division, helping students articulate how their specific academic rigor translates to professional value. Embedded Programming: Partner with divisional faculty to lead workshops and classroom sessions that integrate the Career Accelerator’s four-part commitment (skills, experience, connection, guidance) into the student’s academic journey. Core Area 2: Divisional Networking and Partnership Engagement (40%) Industry Growth: Proactively identify and cultivate a network of alumni, employers, and community partners within industries relevant to your division (e.g., biotech and research for Sciences; creative agencies and nonprofits for Humanities). Connection Facilitation: Create meet-ups and recruitment opportunities that bring divisional students face-to-face with relevant industry leaders. Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of hiring trends and skill requirements within your division’s professional landscape to ensure advising remains current and competitive. Core Area 3: Functional Specialization (20%) Track A: Communications and Digital Strategy Office Voice: Lead the strategic development and distribution of the weekly newsletter and office-wide digital communications. Brand Awareness: Manage social media accounts (Instagram, LinkedIn) and the Career Center and Career Accelerator websites to ensure high visibility and student engagement. Impact Storytelling: Curate and share success stories that highlight the diverse career outcomes of Lewis & Clark students. Track B: Event Management and Programming Operational Architecture: Direct the planning, logistics, and execution of L&C Bridge Series career-oriented events, including industry panels and career treks. Strategic Hosting: Coordinate with campus partners (Catering, Facilities, Alumni Office) to provide a seamless, professional experience for visiting employers and participants. Program Logistics: Manage event registration and data tracking through Handshake Other Duties as Assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, & BEHAVIORS A creative, connection-driven approach to problem-solving and a passion for the liberal arts mission. Proficient understanding of career development theory and advising frameworks as applied to undergraduate students and alumni. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills that support clear guidance, active listening, and effective knowledge sharing. Superior relationship-building skills that foster trust and collaboration with students, faculty, alumni, employers, and campus partners. Demonstrated experience, academic background, or established industry connections within the Arts & Humanities OR Math & Natural Sciences. Proven proficiency in either digital content creation/communication strategy OR high-level event planning and project management. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills that support effective navigation of competing demands in a dynamic environment. Superior problem-solving judgment that supports thoughtful decision making in complex or ambiguous situations. High level of cultural awareness and interpersonal sensitivity that promotes inclusion, respect, and belonging in the workplace. Proficient adaptability and learning agility when responding to change, new information, and evolving institutional priorities. REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree Three years of experience in career advising, career coaching, student services, workforce development, or a related field Demonstrated experience providing guidance, coaching, or advising to students, emerging professionals, or adult learners in a structured support environment PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, education, communication, business administration, or a field related to one of the divisions listed for the divisional liaison element of the role Experience working in higher education settings Experience designing or delivering educational programs, workshops, or group learning experiences Experience building professional relationships with employers, alumni, faculty, or community partners WORK SCHEDULE Full time for 10 months (August - May) Benefit Eligible Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday Travel: Occasional local or regional travel for events, employer engagement, or professional meetings Hybrid/Remote: In-person position with some hybrid flexibility in alignment with institutional policy and operational needs PAY RATE FLSA Status: Exempt Starting at $46,000 per year, with consideration for experience PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS General office and campus environment with occasional event-based or off-site settings Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Regularly communicate via phone, email, virtual platforms, and in person with students, colleagues, and external partners Move between campus locations and event spaces as needed to support meetings and programs Lift and carry materials such as presentation supplies or event materials weighing up to fifteen pounds on an occasional basis Directions for Cover Letter Please include a cover letter describing your interest in joining Lewis & Clark and the ways you can contribute to a culture of inclusion on our campus.
