Seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our team at the Woodlands area location. With multiple locations around Houston, our experience and services extend into your neighborhood. MD Anderson provides medical oncology, radiation oncology and surgical oncology services along with a range of supportive programs at all of its greater Houston area locations. At MD Anderson The Woodlands, patients in The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe and communities north of Houston have access to top-ranked, comprehensive cancer care close to home. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of Medical Assistant experience. CMA / RMA certification preferred. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. • Assists with patient examinations, treatments and procedures.
• Prepares / stocks rooms and escorts patients to rooms.
• Obtains vital signs and prepares patients for physician's care.
• Documents in the medical record patient care entries and completed lab work.
• Reviews and sorts incoming lab results and forwards reports for review.
• Collects laboratory specimens and performs waived laboratory testing.
• Provides transportation of patients for discharge or transfer to other areas in the hospital.
• Cleans, stores, prepares and coordinates maintenance of medical equipment.
• Maintains inventories of laboratory and medical supplies.
• Instructs patients as to test preparations according to planned procedure.
• Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent and
Preferred: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program including externship/practicum. or
Preferred: Graduate of a U.S. Military medical services training program. WORK EXPERIENCE Required: 1 year Medical Assistant experience. or
Required: No experience required with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (including externship/practicum) or U.S. Military medical training. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Preferred: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Upon Hire and
Preferred: CMA - Certified Medical Assistant American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Upon Hire or
Preferred: RMA - Registered Medical Assistant American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT). Upon Hire or
Preferred: CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Upon Hire or
